Discover 19th century Mahebourg and the island’s rich history

FULL DAY *** INCLUDED • Transfer • Guide • Lunch • Entrance Fees

The day starts at the Bay of Mahebourg and its vibrant market where you will have some time to mingle with the locals. A spectacular view of the town awaits from the tower of Notre des Dames des Anges Church – built in 1849.
Your next stop is the washhouse with its rectangular stone where the local washerwomen once cleaned the uniforms of French soldiers.

We continue the day with a visit to “Biscuiterie Rault” a biscuit factory where the manufacture of biscuits made of cassava has not changed since 1870.

Lunch will be served at the Nativ Lodge, beside La Chaux River. While being at the Lodge, the visitors will participate in workshops of appetizers and dessert. Lunch over; a stop at the Naval Museum will highlight the end of the trip.

You will enjoy a boat ride up La Chaux River for lunch at Native Lodge where you will have the opportunity to participate in the preparation of your meal and drinks. The journey ends along memory lane with a visit to the Historical Naval Museum housed in a French colonial mansion.
